Bio-Solv MWWTP is aimed at the private and semi commercial markets (private’s houses, guests’ houses, small hotels, campsites, and small villages).

France and many other EU countries have implemented new laws relating to wastewater treatment. As our need for water increases, water supply and water treatment is getting harder and more expensive year on year, pollution and contamination of water supply is a great concern.

The new law states that wastewater cannot be released into the ground or any water source until they have been treated and that in any case they must not contain more than 30 mg per litre suspended solids (SS) French matières en suspension (MES).
They must not contain more then 120mg per litre of chemical oxygen demand (COD) French demande chimique en oxygène (DCO).
They must not contain more than 40mg per litre of biologic oxygen demand (BOD5).
French demande biologique en oxygène (DBO5).
(BOD and COD are measures by which the toxicity of the wastewater is measured).

Bio-Solv MWWTP is in accordance with the new regulations and provides the users with an efficiency of 95%, and an effluent with the following characteristics.

Suspended solids SS inferior 25mg per litre
Chemical oxygen demand COD inferior 90 mg per litre
Biological oxygen demand BOD5 inferior 25 mg per litre

Whilst millions of people rely on septic tanks to deal with their wastewater, septic tanks on their own are not very efficient at treating waste. 70% of waste going in to a septic tank goes out again, hence the reason why the new law requires the installation of a filter to ensure that no polluted water is returned to the ground or water source. Septic tanks have been around for over 100 years and rely on nature to take its course. Septic tanks can be aided in performing more efficiently by adding products to reduce pollution levels and odours but there is a limit to what can be done.
